Timing Setup

Agilent 93000 SOC Series User Training Part 1, October 2004

Period Option

The Period Option can be used to enter

• the tester period

• the clock source

For each Waveform set, you can specify whether the clock source is

internal (

intern

) or external (

AMC

[Alternate Master Clock]). The

use of the AMC reduces the noise and jitter of the signal and is used

for example for high speed applications.

For this exercise we will only use the internal clock.

Edge Delay Option

The Edge Delay Option displays

• the edge number (e1 for edge 1)

• the use of each edge: D for drive, R for receive, nothing if not used

• the delay of each edge

Most of the time you will use the Edge Delay Option to control the exact

positions of the edges.

Cursor and Marker Option

The Cursor and Marker Option provides

• a cursor for absolute and relative timing settings

• a marker for absolute and relative timing settings

Description Option

The Description Option can be used to enter

• the waveform set description

• the timing set description

Later, when building up complete test flows, you will identify the sets

by means of these descriptions.

Setting up the Timing

When setting up the first tests for a device, you should define a relaxed

timing: not full speed, relaxed edge placements. Later, you can use the

test functions to stress the device.

Before you start setting up the timing for the individual pins and pin

groups, you have to enter the period. You do this in the period display

option, which is shown initially after starting the Timing Setup

window:

Enter the desired period in the

period

edit box.

The units are

. The allowed range depends on the chosen access

time of your test system.
