In addition, you will need to consider the type of pin you are testing, 

such as input, output or both (I/O pins), and then define the level 

parameters for all the DUT pins which have been previously defined in 

the Pin Configuration window.

The I/O pins screen allows you to tell the system:

• what voltage level to drive for a logic- high (‘1’) state

• what voltage level to drive for a logic- low (‘0’) state

• what threshold voltage to use, to decide if a DUT output is high

• what threshold voltage to use, to decide if a DUT output is low

• what termination type to use

• whether to use clamp voltage or the active load

• what active termination voltage to use for output pins

• what clamp voltage to set

• what commutation voltage to set

• what active load to set.

The DPS pins screen allows you to tell the system:

• the voltage and current requirements of the DUT’s power pins.

• the off- state current definition

• the setup time

• the VBUMP voltage.

Timing

There are fourteen Edge Generators for every tester channel (pin). 

Eight of these can be used to produce 8 Drive edges and 6 of them used 

to produce 6 Receive edges:

• Drive edges can be used by the Drive Data Formatter to produce 

drive edges and the Tristate Formatter to produce tristate edges.

• Receive edges can be used by the Data Sampler or the Window 

Formatter to produce receive edges.

The activities associated with each edge are called edge actions.

Every edge can be programmed individually as a drive or a receive 

edge, however its direction depends on the pin type. An input pin uses 

edges with drive and tristate actions, an output pin uses edges with 

receive actions. An IO pin can use edges with all three actions.

Since the tester is cycle-based, you have to apply the signal in a certain 

format for a particular pin cycle by cycle. Since there are industry stan-

dard formats to drive and compare the data, you need the timing
