Choice of pans
A ceramic hob requires a more careful
selection of cooking pans than
traditional cookers with elements.
Please note the following:
- Aluminium has good heat
conductivity but may leave
silver-coloured marks on the hob.
The marks can be removed with the
cleaning agent supplied with the
cooker if this is rubbed in well with
kitchen paper.
- Pots and pans of glass or with a
coarsely patterned enamel base create
more wear on the hob than other
materials.
- Avoid pans with painted bases.
Small flakes of paint may burn hard
onto the hob.
Cooking pans used on the ceramic hob
must:
- cover the whole cooking zone, and
preferably be slightly larger.
- have a flat base or one curved
slightly inwards (max. 1 mm), as the
base will curve outwards when
heated up.
- have a thick base:
- aluminium pans, min 3.5 mm
thickness
- steel pans, min 5 mm thickness
- frying pans, min. 5-7 min thickness.
- have a totally smooth base, or one
which has only a fine pattern.
