User Guide

As a result of supporting PENS, Adobe Captivate lets you upload an AICC or SCORM package at a specified URL. 
After Adobe Captivate publishes the package (ZIP content) successfully, it sends a PENS notification to the LMS 
server to collect the content package. This notification triggers the LMS to retrieve and import the content, and 
allows for alert messages as the LMS validates the content.

Handling errors by using exceptions

If the PENS notification cannot be delivered to the LMS, an error message is displayed during the publish process, 
and the Publish operation needs to be reinitiated. However, if an error occurs after the PENS notification is 
delivered, the error message is reported to the location indicated in the Receipt URL field of the LMS tab displayed 
in the PENS section of the Preferences dialog box.

To enable reporting for a project:

Open the Adobe Captivate project you want to publish.

Select Quiz > Quiz Preferences.

The Preferences dialog box appears.In the Category panel, expand Quiz, and select Reporting.

Select Enable reporting for this project.

Select the AICC or SCORM option.

Click OK.

To configure PENS-related settings:

Open the Adobe Captivate project you want to publish.

Select Quiz > Quiz Preferences.

The Preferences dialog box appears.

In the Category panel, expand Quiz, and select PENS.

In Package, specify the following details:

Source URL 

Specify the URL where PENS must locate the e-learning content. 

User ID (Optional) 

Specify a User ID that PENS must use to authenticate the user who will access the published 

package. 

Password (Optional) 

Specify a password that PENS must use to authenticate the user who will access the 

published package. 

URL Expiry 

Specify the date and time of the URL expiry. This is mandatory.
