1. FEATURES
ACT-IR204UN is an USB-to-RAW SIR serial adapter which will generate a virtual COM port in
Windows system, let user send/receive Raw IR data to/from other IR devices without IrDA protocols
needed.
And its driver will help user make IR connection without the need to change any Application Software in
their PC without RS-232 COM-port support. The ACT-IR204UN Windows driver will create one or two
virtual COM-port for user’s PC with USB port (USB Spec 1.1 compliant). So that user can transfer files
or data with Windows connection program, e.g. “HyperTerminal”, to set up serial UART connection of
COM-port # and baud rate.

2. PACKAGE CONTENT
ACT-IR204UN package contains the following items:
1). ACT-IR204UN USB to Serial SIR Adapter x1
2). Installation CD x1, which includes:
a. Device Installation Driver: USirSetup.exe
b. Device Uninstallation Driver: UsirUnst.exe
c. Com Port Detecting Utility: ACT-IR204UN_ComUtility.exe
d. Data sheet
e. User’s Manual
3. GENERAL SETUP PROCEDURE
Please observe the following steps to set up your ACT-IR204UN adapter:
a) Insert the installation CD and it will run Driver Installation into your PC automatically. (Please refer
Chapter 4 & 6 for installation procedure).
b) Plug your ACT-IR204UN adapter into USB port of PC. It will lead you to a “Found New Hardware”
procedure to complete the installation. ( Please also refer Chapter 4 & 6 for the details.)
c) Run COM port detecting utility: “ACT-IR204UN_ComUtility.exe” if and only if your PC is under
Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Without normally going to the Device Manager checking
procedure, this utility could be much simpler and easier to detect the COM port for you.
