Hard disk drives
Note
The device can manage one 2.5" S-ATA hard disk
drive.
The installed hard disk drives have to be initialised
before the device can be used for recording. It is
only then that the device will recognise the hard
disk drive.
Warning
All data will be deleted from the hard disk drive
during initialisation.
Ensure data is backed up promptly.
Installing the hard disk drive
1. Disconnect the device from the mains power and
open the cover.
2. Follow the ESD guidelines when handling electronic
devices and ensure that they are earthed.
3. Do not open the housing in rooms with carpets or
other surfaces that may be electrostatically charged.
4. Avoid bodily contact with all components on the
PCB.
Warning
If you have any questions about the instructions,
or if the instructions do not help you, your
specialist installation contractor will be more than
happy to help.
5. Install the hard disk drive and establish the
connections.
6. Reattach the housing and connect the device to the
mains power supply.
Click on "HDD" in the menu to adjust settings relating to
management of the hard disk drive.

HDD Information Description
Label Shows the internal connection
number.
Capacity Hard disk drive capacity (in GB).
Status Shows the current status of the
hard disk drives:
Initialised
Normal
Error
Standby
Property

Read-only: write protection

R/W: read and write
Type Local: device hard disk drive
NAS: network hard disk drive
Free Space Shows the approximate amount of
free memory for recordings
Group Group ID
Edit Edit HDD group setting (only
available in group mode).
Delete Removing the hard disk drive (only
available for NetHDD).
Initialising the hard disk drive
1. Select the hard disk drive by ticking the box.
2. Click on Init to start the operation .
3. Click on OK to acknowledge the security prompt.
4. The status bar will show the progress of the
initialisation.
5. Once the process has finished, the hard disk drive
will appear.
Note
If the installed hard disk drive is not displayed,
check the connections.
