7 Operation

6.5 Setting the shielding gas quantity
Make all shielding gas connections gas-tight.

Connect shielding gas cylinder
to the wire feeding unit
.

Set the gas quantity on the pressure reducer of the shielding gas
cylinder
.
6.6 Feed in wire

Insert the wire in the wire feed unit
as specified by the manufacturer.

Press the "Wire Jog" push-button at the wire feed unit
until the wire
comes out of the contact tip.
7 Operation
NOTE
• The type and quantity of the shielding gas quantity depends on the
welding task and the gas nozzle geometry.
• To prevent the shielding gas supply from becoming clogged by
impurities, the cylinder valve must be opened briefly, before connecting
the cylinder. This will blow out any impurities that may be present.
•
NOTE
• Each time the wire is changed, make sure that the cutting point is free of
burrs.
DANGER
Shortness of breath and poisoning caused by inhaling
phosgene gas
During the welding of work-pieces that have been degreased with chlorine-
containing solvents phosgene gas is formed.
• Do not inhale fumes and vapours.
• Ensure sufficient supply of fresh air.
• Rinse work-pieces with clear water prior to welding.
• Do not place degreasing baths containing chlorine in the vicinity of the
welding area.
