Aspect Objects
A plant consists of real entities, such as pipes, tanks, valves motors etc. In the
Aspect Object solution these entities or objects are modeled in the control system.
A modeled object is called an Aspect Object and can be a simple lowest level object
or contain other objects. Objects containing other objects are called composite
objects. The Aspect Object system can also handle computer related objects the
same way as real entity objects. Example of such objects are user object, node
object, workplace object etc.
Aspects
There are a number of different types of information connected to each object.
These types of information are called Aspects in the Aspect Object solution. For
example a valve may have a mechanical drawing, a faceplate (for control purposes),
a graphical representation in a graphical display and so on. Aspect Objects have a
number of default aspects, for example its Name.
Aspect Objects are visualized with different tools, like process graphics, alarm lists,
Plant Explorer etc. The aspect context menu for an object is displayed by right-
clicking it. This will display a list of present aspects from which a desired aspect can
be selected. Depending on the aspect and the environment, the information will be
presented on the screen in the appropriate tool.
What is an Aspect View?
A view is a visual representation of an aspect on the screen. Some aspects have
more than one view. The Faceplate for example, can have up to three views.
