9.1 Introduction
The device was designed, developed and tested according to research based on state-of-
the-art technology. As a rule, similar devices have a service life exceeding 5 years. This
product service life is defined to be 10 years in order to guarantee the availability of its
spare parts during this period of time. However, to make sure the product is in good
working order, the device can display its internals working status through the touch screen
display.
In the rare sit
uations when the device does not work, you can use the “Troubleshooting”
section included in this manual, to isolate the problem. The solutions given therein will
most likely allow you to solve the problem yourself. However if the problem cannot be
solved, please contact your local A.R.C. Laser authorized dealer for technical support.

9.2 Care and Maintenance (by the user)
9.2.1 Cleaning the exterior surfaces
Wipe the outer surface with a clean, lint-free cloth. If necessary, the cloth can be slightly
moistened with a non-corrosive cleaning solution or isopropyl alcohol. Rub with a clean,
lint-free cloth or allow air to dry. Never spray the C-Pro or apply detergents.
Caution: The micromanipulator must never be immersed in cleaning liquid, nor should it be
placed in the autoclave. This will cause irreversible damage to the optical components.
The micromanipulator cannot be sterilized. To ensure the sterility of the surgical field,
sterile coatings must be used.
9.2.2 Cleaning the deflection mirror
The deflecting mirror must be cleaned in case of contamination or in case of power
malfunctions. Contamination on the deflecting mirror creates spots on the mirror surface.
Only two cleaning methods should be performed:
1. Compressed air cleaning
Compressed air can be used to remove particles from the surface
2. Moisture cleaning
Cleaning with methanol can be carried out if complete cleaning is necessary. The
procedure is as follows.
