9. Cleaning and Disinfection
Caution
Make sure that the cleaning and disinfection agents you
have chosen do not contain any of the following materials:
• Oxidizing agents (e.g., hydrogen peroxides)
• Oils
• Glutaraldehydes
Use only validated methods for cleaning and disinfection.
Use solely cleaning and disinfection agents tested for effi-
cacy and compatibility with the medical device (e.g., FDA
certification). CaviWipes™ have been tested for use as a
cleaning and disinfection agent. Always observe all appli-
cable legal and hygiene regulations for dental offices
and/or hospitals.
General
The following procedure should be applied after use or
before any subsequent use. The device must first be
cleaned manually and, after cleaning, be manually disin-
fected in accordance with the following instructions.
Manual Cleaning by Wiping

Clean the device after every application with ready-to-
use disinfectant wipes (e.g., CaviWipes™ based on
the active substances alcohols and quaternary com-
pounds) or equivalent cleaning agents. Follow the
cleaning agent manufacturer’s directions for use.

Thoroughly clean the material surface of the device
with two ready-to-use CaviWipes™ for at least 30 sec-
onds or until no more dirt is visible.

Special care must be exercised in disinfecting the
grooves and connecting points.
Manual Disinfection by Wiping (Intermediate Level
Disinfection)

Disinfect the device with ready-to-use disinfectant
wipes (e.g., CaviWipes™ based on the active sub-
stances alcohols and quaternary compounds) or
equivalent disinfection agents. Follow the cleaning
agent manufacturer’s directions for use, observing in
particular the contact times.

Disinfect the surface of the device for three minutes
using at least two new disinfectant wipes. Keep all sur-
faces moist during the three-minute period.

Special care must be exercised in disinfecting the
grooves and connecting points.
Inspection, Maintenance, Testing

Examine the device for damage, discoloration, and
contamination before every use.

Do not use damaged devices under any circum-
stances. If the device is not visibly clean, repeat the
cleaning and disinfection procedure.
10. Maintenance and Care
The device requires no maintenance.
10.1 Fuse Replacement
Shut the unit off and disconnect the power cable.
The fuses are located on the back of the unit next to the
power switch.
With a screw driver press down on the small bracket of
the fuse unit, squeezing the unit out a small distance.

Remove the fuse unit from the device.
Press the catch lightly in an upward direction so that the
fuse holder can be pulled out. Remove the fuse from the
fuse holder and replace with a new fuse.
Attention: Use only fuses with identical ratings.
Insert the fuse holder in the fuse unit until the catch
audibly locks in place, then replace the fuse unit in the
device. Make sure that the bracket of the fuse unit points
towards the power switch of the device.
10.2 Care
Clean all components with a soft cloth and, if necessary,
a mild cleaning agent (e. g. dish-washing detergent).
Solvents or abrasive cleaners may not be used in any
case, as they can damage the plastic components!
- Cleaning agents must not enter the unit!
To disinfect all components, spray the disinfectant on
a towel and use it to disinfect the unit. Do not spray the
disinfectant directly on the device.
