Temperature Control
Contours have twin temperature controlled fans
and a light on the front panel that indicates the
temperature control status.
In normal internal operating temperature
(0°C-60°C) the indicator and fans are off. If the
temperature exceeds 60°C then the led and
fans come on. If adequate ventilation is
available the fans will return the internal
temperature to below 60° quite quickly, the
indicator and the fans will turn off. This is
normal operation for a loaded system.
If the dimmer is in an elevated ambient
temperature or ventilation is restricted then the
indicator and the fans will stay on. If the internal
temperature continues to rise the indicator will
start to flash slowly (the fans remain running).
This indicates the internal temperature has
exceeded 80°C. If adequate ventilation is not
restored then when the dimmer’s internal
temperature reaches 120°C the indicator will
flash quickly and the dimmers outputs will be
turned off irrespective of the control signal. The
outputs will not be restored until the internal
temperature returns to 76°C.
If the dimmer is very cold when first turned on
(below 0°C) then the indicator will be on but
flash off occasionally. The fans will also run to
help the dimmer warm up and avoid
condensation.
When the dimmer reaches 0°C the indicator will
turn off but flash on slowly. The fans will
continue to run until the dimmer reaches normal
working temperature (above 5°C).
Ventilation
Air enters at the bottom of the unit and exits
through the front panel.
The incoming air supply must be below 40 °C.
WARNING
INSUFFICIENT AIRFLOW WILL
CAUSE OVERHEATING
THE CONTOUR WILL THEN SHUT
DOWN
Outputs.
The contours outputs are via terminal blocks
(Live, Neutral and Earth). These are located at
the top of the unit see instalation section for
details.
Mains Connections
Mains cables can enter from the side or the top
of the dimmer. The cables are attached directly
to the bus bars on the channel breakers which
are situated behind the front panel.
Connections
Power connections and load connections are
made via the various knockouts on the top and
side panels.
Control connections (DMX and analogue) are
made from the bottom of the unit.
The DMX connection is made directly to a
terminal block. Analogue connections are via
two 8 pin ring locking DIN connectors.
