It has simple to use controls for channel test,
setting the operating mode and DMX start
address. It is also easy to set the preheat level,
dimmer law, and maximum level of each
channel individually using the front panel
controls.
Indicator lights show that DMX data is being
received, that errors have / have not been
received and show the status of supply phases
present. A three digit display shows the DMX
start channel. The dimmer is fan cooled with
two temperature controlled fans, and has an
electronic thermal overload protection system.
Connections are provided for DMX In and Out;
DMX and Analogue inputs may be used
simultaneously. Fault diagnosis and test
features are built-in to confirm the operation of
the dimmer and the inputs.
A number of lights are used on the front panel
of the dimmer. They let the user see if there is a
problem ‘at a glance’. Green lights show
channel input signals, amber lights are for
information and red lights show problems.
This product is designed to work in conjunction
with Zero 88 lighting desks such as the Illusion
and Sirius although it can be used with any
other DMX 512 and most analogue output
equipped desks (+ / - 10V).
About This Manual
This manual describes the operation and
programming of Contour dimmers. If a custom
set-up is required, this manual describes the
various options available and how to change
them.
Where changes are described in the manual,
the example begins with the default setting.
Throughout the manual, lettering that appears
anywhere on the dimmer is shown in
CAPITALS. For example the DMX error light is
shown as the DMX ERROR light.
This Manual may be available in other language
options; however the English version remains
the definitive version.
Power Sources
Contour dimmers have Auto Sensing and Auto
Tracking. This allows the dimmers to be used
on mains supplies from 180 to 260V AC and 90
to 130V AC and at frequencies between 45 to
65 Hz automatically. There are therefore no
internal or external adjustments required.
Contour dimmers are supplied as standard for
three phase Star operation or single phase
Delta supplies requires a phase conversion kit.
Protection
The Contour is protected from excess voltage
damage caused by:
Accidental phase reversal.
Loss of the neutral line.
Common mode faults of up to 260V.
AC on the DMX connections.
Up to +/- 40V DC on the analogue inputs.
