Input Controls
Operating Modes
The dimmer has two operating modes set by
the INPUT SELECTION SWITCH at the bottom
of the dimmer.
MODE 1 AN DMX:
DMX and analogue data is mixed on a “highest
takes precedence” basis. If no DMX input is
present, there is a delay, then a fixed fade to
any analogue input level that is present.
MODE 2 DMX ONLY:
Any analogue inputs are ignored. If no DMX
input is present, then the ‘DMX ONLY’ light
blinks slowly.
If the incoming DMX signal lost, last data
received is held.
DMX Termination
It is a requirement of the USITT DMX512
standard that the end of a DMX transmission
line that is furthest from the transmitter (desk)
MUST be terminated. The Contour has inbuilt
termination which may be switched in by sliding
the TERMINATION switch to ON.

Control Inputs
Input controls are at the bottom of the unit.
DMX and two 8 pin DIN ‘ANALOGUE INPUT’
connectors for ‘CHANNELS 1-6’ and
‘CHANNELS 7-12’.
The DMX connection is made directly to
terminal blocks, connection from the desk and
to the next dimmer can be made to the same
terminals.
The DMX IN connector carries serial data for up
to 512 channels, any 12 of which may be
selected to control the dimmer. These
connections can be “daisy-chained” out for
controlling further dimmers.
Each analogue input connector carries data for
6 dimmer channels. The left is for ‘CHANNELS
1-6’, the right is for ‘CHANNELS 7-12’.
Input polarity sense is automatic and can
handle voltages up to /- 10V DC with protection
up to +/- 40V DC.
The +/- SUPPLY switch to the left of the
analogue CHANNEL 1 to 6 connector selects
the output voltage polarity for analogue desk
power supply (+/- 20V DC nominal).
