Features
ZELMER cooker hood is used to extract cooking fumes.
It requires installing a duct extracting air to the outside.
The length of the duct (most commonly a tube
∅
120 mm)
should not exceed 405 m.
After installing the active-coal filter which is available in the
sales network, the cooker may operate as an odor absorber.
In such a case there is no need to install an air-outlet duct.
The cooker hood is a class II electrical appliance.
It is equipped with an independent lighting and an extract fan
with three speed settings.
The cooker hood is designed for a permanent installation on
a vertical wall above the gas or electric cooker.
Parts
Fig. A
The cooker hood is composed of the following elements:
1
The hood body equipped with the fan unit.
2
Aluminum filters.
3
Lighting.
4
Extracting opening.
5
Control panel.
6
Check valve (enabling the connection of an air grate).
Assembly
Fig. B
Installing the cooker hood
1
Mark a vertical line on the wall indicating the center of
the kitchen plate.
2
Dismantle the aluminum grease filter.
3
Put the housing of the hood against the wall with its
center marked on a central, vertical line with a minimum
650 mm distance from the lower area of the hood to the
surface holding the dishes on the hotplate.
NOTE: Make sure the housing is leveled.
4
Mark the position of the assembly holes on the wall.
5
Drill the holes marked on the wall using a drill with the
diameter corresponding to the enclosed rawlplugs, insert the
rawlplugs in the holes and fix the cooker hood housing to the
wall (the hood may also be installed to the unit by means of
four screws).
6
Install the aluminum anti-grease filter.
7
Plug in the appliance.
Plug in and operation control
After plugging the appliance in (according to the previously
described requirements), check if the cooker hood lighting
works and if its motor operates correctly.
After installing the cooker hood, the socket should be easily
accessible in order to unplug the appliance.
Setting the operation mode
Fig. C
Setting the extraction operation mode
When the extraction operation mode is on, the air is carried
out in a special duct. In this mode, a check valve with two
small flaps should be installed in order to prevent the air
from returning from the ventilation duct. It is also advisable to
remove the carbon filter (if there is one).
The hood is connected to the air-outlet by means of a fixed
or flexible duct, 120 mm in diameter (installed on the check
valve) and appropriate duct clamps which may be bought in
special supply stores. The connection should be only done
by a qualified installer.
Setting the odor absorber operation mode
In this mode the filtered air returns to the cycle by the inlet.
This mode requires an installed carbon filter, as well as an
outlet for the filtered air from the unit.
Operation
Fig. D
Control panel
The cooker hood can be controlled using an integrated
switch.
0
– motor off,
1
– first operation speed,
2
– second operation speed,
3
– third operation speed,
– light on/off.
This adjustment allows setting the optimal fan speed for the
user’s needs with a minimal noise level.
The speed of the fan
In order to start or change the speed settings of the fan,
catch hold of a special cavity in the housing, and then set the
appropriate speed by means of switches.
The lowest and medium speed settings are used in normal
conditions and low cooking fume intensity. The highest
speed setting should be used only in case of an intense level
of cooking fumes e.g. during frying or grilling.
Cleaning and maintenance
Fig. E
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will guarantee a good
and failure-free operation of the cooker hood and will prolong
its useful life. Make sure the aluminum filters and the active-
coal filters are replaced according to the manufacturer’s
recommendations.
Anti-grease aluminum filters
1
Cleaning
In case of a normal operation of the cooker hood, the
aluminum anti-grease filters should be cleaned every two
months in a dishwasher or manually with the use of a mild
detergent or liquid soap.
