The meaning and contents is like with variables.
The order, which the printer keeps while processing the counters and
variables, is as follows:

Gets current value of counter or variable.

Makes formatting depending on the way it was defined with the command
V or C.
•
Executes all modifiers from left to right.
•
The processed string is pasted in the end of the string processed by any
previous elements.
