6.3 Maintenance Work
Only conduct maintenance work described in this document. All tasks of maintenance, service and
repair not described here must only be performed by an authorized ZEISS service representative.
6.3.1 Exchanging the Carbon Nozzle
If the carbon nozzle is damaged, you need to exchange the carbon nozzle.
When correctly adjusted, the nozzle is squeezed gently under the side of the screw head. It is im-
portant that the force is sufficiently tight to hold the nozzle so it does not come loose, even when
the swing arm swings back and forth. However, it should not be so tight that it fractures the frag-
ile carbon nozzle. The fine adjustment of the distance of the nozzle to the specimen as it is held
by the screw is not easy, and will usually require iteration, and perhaps help from a colleague.
Info
The Focal CC is supplied with one nozzle as installed, and two spare nozzles which users
should be able to replace and adjust. There is no warranty on the carbon nozzles.
Info
The Focal CC is supplied with a tool for star screws. Keep the tool in a safe place for future
use.
