SECTION 4-System Maintenance
Beware the unit may turn on unexpectedly. The
unit may cycle the fans and compressor
unexpectedly according to the operating logic.

4.1 GENERAL CATEGORIES
Regular servicing is required to optimize the life and
reliability of the unit. The recommended maintenance
intervals are provided in the table in document
0MDL178/C-NSA
Below are descriptions of the main service procedures
to be carried out on the machine.
4.1.1 Electrical
•
check defrost initiation and termination
(semi-annual, annual inspect/service)
•
check thermostat cycle sequence (semi-
annual, annual inspect/service)
•
check operation of protection shutdown
circuits

•
check thermostat and thermometer
calibration (annual inspect/service)
•
inspect wire harness for damaged wires
or connections (annual inspect/service)
4.1.2 Refrigeration
•
check refrigerant level (semi-annual, annual

replace

filter

4.1.3 Structural
•
visually inspect unit and refrigerant hoses for
fluid leaks (weekly, monthly, semi-annual,
annual inspect/service)
•
visually inspect unit for damaged, loose or
broken parts (weekly, monthly, semi- annual,
annual inspect/service)
•
clean defrost drains (weekly, monthly, semi-
annual, annual inspect/service)
•
inspect belts for condition and proper
tension (monthly, semi-annual, annual
inspect/service)
•
clean entire unit including evaporator
coil and condenser coil (monthly, semi-
annual, annual inspect/service)
•
check all unit mounting bolts, brackets,
lines, hoses, etc.
4.2 INSTALLING THE MANIFOLD GAUGE SET
To prevent trapping liquid refrigerant in the manifold
gauge set be sure the set is brought to suction pressure
before disconnecting.
The following procedures involve servicing the
refrigeration system. Some of these service procedures
are regulated by Federal, and in some cases, by State and
Local laws.
All regulated refrigeration service procedures must be
performed by an EPA certified technician, using approved
equipment and complying with all Federal, State and Local
laws.
