Cylinder Head
Removal
1. Remove upper engine cover.
2. Remove intake manifold. See Intake Manifold
on page 5-70. Plug all intake ports to prevent
contamination.
3. Clean the cylinder head cover and the
surrounding area.

4. Disconnect high-pressure fuel lines
(Figure 5-4, (1)) and remove fuel injectors
(Figure 5-4, (2)) . See Removal of Fuel Injector
on page 6-13.
5. Disconnect breather hose (Figure 5-4, (3))
from breather.
6. Remove oil fill cap (Figure 5-4, (4)) and lift
rubber gasket (Figure 5-4, (5)) to access bolt
located below.
7. Remove cylinder head cover bolts in sequence
working from the outer bolts toward the center.
8. Remove cylinder head cover.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean all gasket residue from the
mating surfaces.

2. Apply a thin uniform bead of Three Bond 1207F
(Yanmar part No. 977770-1207F) approximately
2 mm high and 2 mm wide at the transition to
each end of the half-moon section
(Figure 5-5) .
3. Install cylinder head cover gasket. Ensure
gasket is correctly seated on rear of cylinder
head
(Figure 5-5) .
