Test the brake at a low speed when starting
out to make sure that it is working properly. If
the brake does not provide proper braking
performance, inspect the brake for wear or
brake fluid leakage. (See the following sec-
tion for more details.)
Checking the brake pads
Check the brake pads for wear according to
the following procedure.
1.
Place the snowmobile on a level surface
and apply the parking brake.
2.
Open the shroud.
3.
Check the brake pads for wear.
If the brake pads reach the wear limit,
ask a Yamaha dealer to replace them.
4.
Close the shroud.
Checking the parking brake pads
Check the parking brake pads for wear ac-
cording to the following procedure.
1.
Open the shroud.
2.
Check the parking brake pads for wear
by measuring the thickness of the pads.
If the parking brake pads reach the wear
limit, ask a Yamaha dealer to replace
them.
3.
Close the shroud.
To adjust the parking brake
As the parking brake pads wear, adjustment
may be necessary to ensure proper brake
performance.
1.
Open the shroud.
2.
Loosen the parking brake pad adjusting
bolt locknut and the parking brake pad
adjusting bolt.
3.
Loosen the parking brake cable locknut.
4.
Turn the parking brake cable adjusting
bolt in or out to adjust the cable length.
