While holding the rotor magnet,

tighten the starter clutch "1".

Mark end
"A" of each screw
starter clutch.

Check:

Contact surfaces Starter Clutch Damage /
pitting / wear

Replace the starter clutch gear.
4.
Check:
•
Starter Clutch Operation
to
a.
Install the starter clutch gear "1"
the starter clutch and hold the rotor
to
magneto rotor.
b.
When turning the starter clutch pinion
clockwise "A", the starter clutch and the starter
clutch gear should
mesh, otherwise the starter clutch
to
is defective and must be replaced.
c.
When turning the starter clutch pinion
counterclockwise "B", should turn freely,
otherwise the starter clutch is faulty and must
be replaced.

Install:
•
Starter Clutch
•
Starter clutch bolts "1"
New
NOTE:
•
Clean the tapered portion of the crankshaft and
magneto rotor shaft.
•
When installing the magneto rotor, make sure
the woodruff key is properly
seated in the groove of the crankshaft.
2.
Tighten:
•
Magneto rotor nut "1"
Magneto rotor nut
70 Nm (7.0 m · kg, 50 ft · lb)
Starter clutch bolts
14 Nm (1.4 m · kg, 10 ft · lb)
