5.4 Mode of Conducting Tests
5.4.1 Control Power
I nsta l l the Auxi liary Power Module (Cat. No. PRTAAPM) to
insu re control power is available for testi ng.
5.4.2 By Not Tripping the Breaker
1 . Should the circuit breaker be i n the cel l "Connected" position
and carrying load cu rrent, make s u re that the circuit breaker
is carrying no more than 40% of the plug ampere rating O nl·
2. Place the test selector switch in one of the six "No Trip" test
setti ngs, i .e., 1 , 2, 3, 8, 1 0, or GF.
3. Depress the "Test" push button and release it - the test is
i nitiated when the pushbutton is released.
4. Should any of the various protection settings be less than
the selected "No Trip" test value, then the LED related to
that fu nction will turn on signifying successfu l comp letion
of the test action. Note : For long delay tests there wi l l be
some period of ti me between start of test and LED tu rn
"ON".
5. Reset the trip unit by depressing and releasing the "Trip
Reset" push button. Al l LEDs turned "ON" by the "No Trip"
test action should turn "OFF".

Should an actual overload or fau lt condition occur d u ring an
i n-service, "No Trip Test" sequence, the protection function
wi l l override the test fu nction, and the circu it breaker will trip
automatically as pre-program med with the various Time-Cur
rent setti ngs.
Note:
The "Trip Reset" pushbutton may be depressed
at a ny time. However, s ho u l d a test i nitiated via the
integral test panel be i n progress, it would be aborted.
A test i n itiated via the i nteg ral test panel may be
aborted at any ti me by depressing the "Tri p Reset"
pushbutton.
5.4.3 By Tripping the Breaker
1 .
Make sure that the c i rcuit breaker is carryi ng no more than
40% of the plug am pere rating On l·
2. Place the test selector switch in one of the two "Trip" test
settings, i .e., 6T or G FT.
3. Depress the "Test" pushbutton and release it - the test is
i nitiated when the pushbutton is released.
4. Shou l d any of the various p rotection settings be less than
the selected "Trip" test value, the ci rcuit breaker wil l trip
and the LED related to that function wi l l turn "ON" fol l owing
the test action.
5. Reset the tri p u n it by depressing and releasing the "Trip
Reset" push button. All LEDs tu rned "ON" res u lting from
the "Trip" test action should turn "OFF".
