Welch Allyn MicroTymp3 portable tympanometric instrument
static admittance (Peak Ya)
A calculated measure of the compensated static acoustic
admittance (height) of the tympanometric peak in acoustic millimhos (mmho).
tympanogram
A recording of the admittance of the ear as a function of ear canal
pressure.
tympanometric gradient
A measure of the width of the tympanogram reported in
decapascals (daPa) at 50% of static admittance (Peak Ya) or the tympanometric peak.
tympanometric peak pressure
The location of the tympanometric peak on the pressure
axis. TPP is reported in decapascals (daPa).
tympanometry
The measurement of acoustic admittance in the sealed ear canal as a
function of ear canal air pressure.
tympanosclerosis
A complication of otitis media that is characterized by sclerotic
regions involving the tympanic membrane, ossicles, and middle ear mucosa.
Tympanosclerosis increases the stiffness of the middle ear system.
volume velocity
The volume of air that passes through a plane per unit time.
