Sparkling Treasure
Once upon a time, there lived a king who had treasure beyond measure.
Wonderful jewels and works of art, which had been made and decorated with
hundreds of jewels by the craftsman of the country, were piled high in a
treasure chamber. There were vases and plates, goblets and giant fi gures. One
artist had even made a starry sky out of wood and precious stones. Everybody
understood that it was the King’s pride and joy and he went to the treasure
chamber every day to gaze at the magic sparkling.
But one day there was a terrible earthquake and all of the works of art fell over
and off the shelves. The fl oor was strewn with gemstone fragments and the King
was inconsolable.
The King’s children wanted to make him happy again. From then on, the little
princes and princesses found that the best way to spend their time was to put
together the gemstone fragments into new works of art or to rebuild the works
of art following the old patterns.
“Sparkling Treasure” is a magical, sparkling game that appeals to the senses and
aids development. The sparkling “gemstone fragments” appeal to the sense of
vision; the diamond shape of the tiles, as well as the smooth wood and surface
of the sparkling tiles, with its polished appearance, appeal to the sense of touch.
Making “works of art” out of the large, easily grasped gemstone fragments (3D)
following the templates (2D) also challenges and helps to develop spatial
perception. Above all, the sparkling gemstone fragments are highly stimulating.
With their mysterious shimmer, they encourage all kinds of diff erent games, not
least free play, sorting and creating imaginative patterns - with or without
templates, horizontally or vertically upwards.
Depending on the game played, key skills can be developed “incidentally”, for
example, recognising and naming colours, fi rst and advanced understanding of
rules, concentration, memory and assessing risk. A magic and sparkling
companion from nursery to primary school, since diff erent game ideas can be
used for diff erent age groups!
