NOTE
Since the main gear is not centered in the pump, turning the gear in this way will
require removing and turning the pinion shaft and bearings as well.
5.2.9
Removing the Main Gear
If it does become necessary to remove the Main Gear, use the following procedure.
1
Remove the connecting rods from the
crankshaft as per 5.2.6.

Unbolt the main gear from the crankshaft.
3
Slide the main gear from the crankshaft. The
gear may have a slight shrink fit to the
crankshaft, so exercise care not to warp or
damage the gear during removal.
NOTE
It is helpful to place match marks
on the crankshaft gear flange so
that the main gear can be
reinstalled in exactly the same
position.
