Operating Safely
XJ1298961—UN—22JUN20
Only operate if qualified.
Do not operate the
equipment unless you have read the manual carefully
and you have become qualified via supervised training
and instruction.
1. Prior to starting work, familiarise yourself with the job
site and your surroundings.
2. Check all equipment controls and functions while the
carrier is in an open area. Ensure that both carrier
and harvester head respond correctly.
3. Inspect the chain shot guard and the saw chain
catcher for damage or wear.
4. Maintain a safe operating distance between the
equipment and other personnel. Never swing the
boom, attachment, or load over the heads of
bystanders.
5. Before moving the vehicle, raise the harvester head.
When travelling, keep the attachment high enough to
clear stumps or other objects.
6. Choose low gear and drive at a speed suiting ground
conditions. If driving a wheeled carrier, use anti- skid
devices such as chains if needed.
7. Learn all safety rules that apply to the work situation
and work site. Strictly adhere to all such rules to
ensure safe operation of the equipment.

Operate the harvester head safely.
●
Do not operate the harvester head with the window
open.
●
Ensure a chain shot guard is installed and
maintained.
●
Stay aware of the chain shot hazard zone —
approximately 15 degrees towards the rear sprocket
and in front of the saw bar tip.
●
Ensure the likely stem path is clear before confirming
stem eject.
NOTE: Exceeding harvester head capacity is not
recommended.
Bucking and Piling
●
Create a debris mat from limbs and tops to help
distribute carrier weight and reduce soil impact.
●
Place processed logs in a stable position with safe
access for a forwarder.
●
Make parallel, even piles of logs, with matching ends.
●
Sort logs by class or species.
