Attachment of the Bowden cable (version 6541B): see installation and operating instructions of
the vehicle manufacturer.
3. OPERATION:
The pertinent safety regulations must be observed when coupling and uncoupling.
No one may stand between the vehicles.
3.1 TOWING HOOK
(see fig. 7, pos. 3)
The pick-up hitch may only be operated with the locking hooks (6) in closed condition.
3.1.1 COUPLING:
>
Make sure that the drawbar of the trailer or towed device get in correct height position by using
supporting jacks or similar. Further ensure that the trailer and his drawbar are positioned cor-
rectly behind the vehicle for the coupling process. It is important, that the trailer is aligned parallel
to the vehicle when lifting the towing hook (3).
>
Moving up the towing hook (3) completely by the main cylinder (16) so that the locking hooks
(6) can swivel free below the hook pin (4).
>
Swing back the locking hooks (6) rearwards by using the Bowden cable so that the inner slider
(2) with the towing hook (3) is released for height adjustment.
>
Move the square tube (2) with the towing hook (3) by the main cylinder (16) downwards under-
neath the towing ring. Release the Bowden cable so that the locking hooks (6) swing back au-
tomatically.
>
Move the vehicle backwards to the trailer until the towing hook (3) is centrically positioned be-
low the towing ring.
>
Move up the drawbar by the main cylinder (16) as far as the locking hooks (6) snap into the
hook pin (4) and the hitch is completely closed. Subsequent depressurize the hydraulic system,
so that the vertical force rest on the locking hooks (6) and not at the hydraulic system.
3.1.2 UNCOUPLING:
>
Use supporting jacks or similar to stop the trailer rolling away
>
Moving up the towing hook (3) completely by the main cylinder (16) so that the locking hooks
(6) can swivel free below the hook pin (4).
>
Swing back the locking hooks (6) rearwards by using the Bowden cable so that the square tube
(2) with the towing hook (3) is released for height adjustment.
>
Move the square tube (2) with the towing hook (3) by the main cylinder (16) downwards.
>
Make sure that the drawbar of the trailer or towed device is fixed with supporting jacks or similar.
>
Move the vehicle forwards.
>
Move up the towing hook (3) by the main cylinder (16) upwards as far as the locking hooks (6)
snap into the hook pin (4) and the hitch is completely closed. This corresponds to the parking
position. Subsequent depressurize the hydraulic system
Never uncouple if the trailer is under tension or pressure
Correct locking of the hook coupling is only ensured if the safety hooks cover completely the hook pin.
Only then a secure connection is guaranteed. This must be checked after every coupling procedure.
