The UP406 package includes only the deskset. It is not a stand-alone
telephone and requires connection with UP416 console through Ethernet
network (see diagram below) to function. You can also purchase UP407
cordless handset or IS6100 cordless headset to expand your system.

You must install and set up UP416 console first before expanding your
system with this UP406 deskset.
Make sure you connect the console and all desksets to the Ethernet
network. You can use the existing Ethernet wall jack to which your
computer is already connected, or set up a new network.

Planning your system
NOTES:
•
Make sure you connect only one telephone system to the desired telephone lines.
•
You can have only one console in a system.
•
You can register only one UP407 cordless handset and one VTech IS6100 cordless headset to an
UP406 deskset. For optimal performance, make sure you do not register more than five cordless
accessories. More cordless accesossies still work, but you might experience degradation in various
performances.
•
When a deskset has cordless accessories, the cordless accessories are all part of the same
extension. Only one device with the same extension can be used at a time.
•
You must have telephone jacks and an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch near where you
are installing the phone.
•
Make sure you assign a unique extension number to each individual phone in your telephone system.
