Brewer Rinse Cycle
When performing a brewer rinse, use only VKI approved powder cleaner. Any other
chemicals or detergents may damage the brewer. Do not, under any circumstances,
soak the brewer’s plastic parts in brewer cleaner for prolonged periods of time
(maximum is 30 minutes) as they may become brittle.
1. Open the front door and place a heat-resistant and leak-proof container below the brewer spout.
This container must remain under the brewer spout for the duration of the brewer rinse cycle.
2. Pour a packet of VKI/Filterfresh approved brewer cleaner into the brew chamber.
3. Press the “
SET
-
UP
” button on the interior panel.
4. Using the hidden scroll buttons, scroll to the “
RINSE CYCLE
” menu.
5. To start the automated brewer rinse cycle, press the “
COFFEE
” button on the front selection
panel.
6. The piston will now move to the top of the brewer cylinder and water will be dispensed into the
brewer, mixing with the brewer cleaner powder.
7. The brewer will pause in this position for approximately five minutes, allowing the cleaning
solution break down oils and stains that have accumulated inside the brewer and on the screen.
a) If you need to cancel the “
RINSE CYCLE
” after it has been initiated, press the “
COFFEE
” button.
8. After the five minutes have elapsed, the brewer will cycle, dumping the cleaning solution into the
container that was placed below the brewer spout. The brewer will then automatically cycle
water seven consecutive times to rinse the cleaner from the brewer.
9. After these cycles are finished, the brewer will stop and the machine will exit the rinse mode.
10. Brew several cups of coffee – the coffee oils are needed to re-lubricate the brewer.
11. Remove the brewer chamber and rinse it under warm water to remove any residual cleaner that
may have been left behind after the rinse cycle.
Please note that the screen is only good for 2-3 cleanings. If the screen appears to be
damaged in any way, it needs to be replaced. Refer to the "
Replacing the Brewer Screen
"
section of this guide for instructions.
