Flash Modes
The flash is designed to function automatically when lighting conditions warrant the use of
flash. You can take an image using a flash mode suitable to your circumstances.
The effective flash distance is about 0.5m to 4.4m (1.5 to 13 feet) with the lens at wide
position and ISO400.
Your flash setting is remained after the power is turned OFF manually or by auto power
OFF.
1. Rotate the mode dial to either [
] automatic
photography mode or [
] manual photography
mode.
In the [
] automatic photography mode, it is
possible to set the flash if the scene mode is set to
[
AUTO
].
Flash settings may be limited depending on the
scene mode.
2. Press the flash open button to pop-up the flash.
3. Press the flash button to select the desired mode. Flash
mode is indicated on the display.
When scene mode is set to [
Auto
] in [
] auto-
matic photography mode.
The modes appear cyclically:

] Automatic

] Red-eye Reduction
[ ] Forced (Fill) Flash
[
] Flash Off
[
] Slow Sync.
When scene mode is set to [
] manual
photography mode.
The modes appear cyclically:

4. Compose your image, press the shutter button down
halfway to set exposure and focus. Then press down
fully to capture the image.
When the shutter button is pressed halfway down,
the current flash icon will be displayed in yellow on
the display screen.
Flash functionality is limited, appropriately, within the
context of various photography modes.
