INSTALLATION
Baxnet Notes
1. A maximum of 16 devices may be connected to a BaxNet network. This includes VDC1604s Triplex Columbus and
keyboard combinations.
2. Baxnet RS485 addresses from 1 to 4 are reserved for VDC1604s or Triplex Columbus.
3. VDC1604 address IDs are between 1 and 16.
Setting the Keyboard ID
Each NPX/RKB/J3De keyboard on the Baxnet requires a unique RS485 address. Addresses 1 to 4 are restricted to
VDC1604 or Triplex Columbus units. We recommend that you use addresses 29 to 32. Keyboards with lower addresses
have control priority over keyboards with higher addresses.
1. Disconnect the power from the keyboard.
2. Reconnect the power.
3. Within 5 seconds of reconnecting the power, press the
and
Esc
keys simultaneously.
4. The LCD display on the keyboard should display:

5. Within 5 seconds, press the
key
6. The LCD should change to:
Change KB Id
7. Within 5 seconds enter the new ID number (1 to 4) and press the
enter
key.
8. The LCD should now display:
Change KBD Id
New SELFUNT = 00

Setting the keyboard baudrate
The default Baxnet baud rate for the keyboard and the VDC1604 and Triplex Columbus is 9600. This can be changed on
the keyboard and VDC1604, but not on the Triplex Columbus. To change the baud rate on the keyboard, follow the steps
below.
1. Disconnect the power from the keyboard.
2. Reconnect the power.
3. Within 5 seconds of reconnecting the power, press the
and
Esc
keys simultaneously.
4. The LCD display on the keyboard should display:

5. Within 5 seconds, press the
key.
6. The LCD display should show:
1-9600 2=19200
7. Press 1 for 9600 or 2 for 19200.
8. Press the enter key.
