Vista SmartDisc Update V 4.34
New Features
Operation of 60 GB
Hard Disks
Because of a new hard disk formating procedure Vista SmartDisc version V
4.34 is able to operate 60 GB hard disks.
Note
Initialising Hard
Disks
Hard Disks which haven´t been operated with the Vista SmartDisc version V
4.34 should be initialised first (procedure according to the Vista SmartDisc
manual).
If the Hard Disk is not initialised some old or invalid video images might ap-
pear at the beginning of stored video data. But even if the initialising is not
performed there won´t be any data loss and the old or invalid data will be era-
sed during the further operation of Vista SmartDisc.

New Features
Operation of 80 GB
Hard Disks
Because of a new hard disk formating procedure Vista SmartDisc version
v4.36 is able to operate up to 80 GB hard disks.
Additional Backup
Sector
Due to an additional backup sector read and write errors can be compensated
and therefore the operation is more stable.
Fault Correction Vista SmartDisc
Timeout Adjustment
The timeout parameter for read and write has been increased to 30 seconds
and therefor adjusted to actual hard disks of various manufacturers. Due to
this adjustment conflicts with the time consuming self-repair-routines of the
hard disks can be avoided.
General Notes
Restart
Wait for 10 seconds after a power-down before restarting of the device. The
hard disk drive has to come to a complete standstill!
Initialising Hard
Disks
Hard Disks which haven´t been operated with the Vista SmartDisc version
v4.36 should be initialised first (procedure according to the Vista SmartDisc
manual).
If the Hard Disk is not initialised some old or invalid video images might ap-
pear at the beginning of the stored video data. But even if the initialisation
has not been performed there won´t be any data loss and the old or invalid
data will be erased during the further operation of Vista SmartDisc.
