Modem Configuration with Terminal Software
Install the terminal software from the installation CD.
1.
Connect the modem to a free COM port on your PC/lap-
top.
2.
Start the terminal software and select the COM port to
which the modem is connected; set the baud rate to
115,200 baud (do not use 115,200 baud with GSM mod-
ules).
3.
The command prompt is a blinking cursor. Type AT and
press Enter. The response OK is a sign that the communi-
cationfunctioning correctly. If a number appears in place
of OK, activate "verbal messages" response with the ATV1
command.
4.
Enter the AT commands. AT commands can be sent as a
string instead of as individual commands. The prefix "AT"
need only be entered once at the start of the string; spaces
are not allowed. Once you receive an OK message, the
command has been accepted!
5.
Important: After you have entered the command (AT)E0,
the confirmation of keyboard strokes is not shown. This is
normal and desirable, as the echo is deactivated in accord-
ance with the requirements of SmartDisc. However, you
must still save the settings with AT&W. You must receive
the OK acknowledgement.
6.
The initialisation (with MSN!) is now permanently stored in
the modem.
Below, you will find some examples for correct initialisation of selected mo-
dems and ISDN TAs. The configuration of the MSN is indicated in bold in the
initialisation commands for the ISDN terminal adapters. However, the MSN
need not be entered in every case.
