Connecting SmartDiscTCP/IP to an existing network

The procedure for connecting SmartDisc to an existing network is the same
as for connecting the device to a PC with the crossover cable. You can not
use the included crossover cable, instead you must use a standard patch cable
to connect the device to a network hub. If the IP address of SmartDisc is al-
ready assigned in the network, this can cause problems with the device with
the same IP address.

4.2 Remote Access and Configuration

The easiest way to establish a connection between SmartDisc and a PC is to
use the V.24 null modem cable included with SmartTel Receiver software.

Brief Instructions for SmartTel Receiver software (Null Modem Cable)

1.

Install SmartTel Receiver software

2.

Make sure that SmartDisc is switched off and connect the
device to the PC with the Vista null modem cable.

3.

Start SmartTel Receiver software, select

Settings

 and

select the COM port to which the null modem cable is con-
nected. Deactivate the TCP/IP and CAPI connections. Set
the interface speed to 115200 baud if SmartDisc is set to
115200 or 230400. If this is not the case, the baud rates
must match.

4.

Switch SmartDisc on.

5.

After the device is initialised, you can establish a connec-
tion with the PC software (button

Dial

).

6.

The central control panel is displayed, as well as a video
image, if available (camera input 1).

Detailed instructions can be found in the SmartTel Receiver software manual.
