Vista SmartDisc
Ring Divisions
In order to allow the device to record images before an alarm (pre-alarm pic-
tures), SmartDisc can divide the available storage capacity into up to 2000
equal areas. The function
storage subdivision
divides the available storage
capacity into the specified number of "smaller continuous tapes" in order to
separate events from one another.
Ring storage with storage subdivision
Saving recorded
sequences
SmartDisc uses one of these rings, the current ring, to save data from the de-
sired camera. The current ring is overwritten continually until the device is
prompted to call up and save to the next ring by the control input. All images
recorded in the previous ring are now saved for further evaluation.
Continual recording
The entire archive is still operated in continual recording mode, in spite of the
fact that it is divided into smaller areas (rings), unless overwrite protection is
activated.
Overwrite protec-
tion
When the overwrite protection is activated, the device stops recording as
soon as the device is prompted to switch from the last ring to the first ring.
Overwrite protection has no effect on continual recording in the active ring
(see “5.4 Log File” on page 36)
.
