Troubleshooting
6-5
System Pressure Leak Test
1. Set up system as shown in Figure 6-1.
2. Open the O
2
supply valve and provide 50 psi O
2
to the anesthesia system.
3. Turn ON (
l
) the system main ON/OFF switch and allow the system to complete its self-test. The
system should complete the self test without errors. If errors are detected, consult the alarm matrix
in Table 6-2.
4. Attach a rebreathing circuit to the system.
5. Attach a breathing bag to the bag mount located below the pop-off valve.
6. Close the pop-off valve.
7. Plug the wye piece or elbow connector of the F-circuit using your thumb.
8. Continue to plug the end of the breathing wye or elbow while pressurizing the absorber system to
30 cmH
2
O using the O
2
flush valve. The system pressure should not drop more than 5 increments
(30 cmH
2
O to 25 cmH
2
O) in 30 seconds. If a leak is present, use a soapy water solution to help find
its exact location. Repair or replace the leaking component.
WARNING!
Leaks in the system allow room air to dilute the fresh gas mixture causing the
patient to be “light.”
9. Open the pop-off valve and relieve the system pressure down to 10 cmH
2
O as indicated on the
touch screen.
10. Select O
2
flow indicator on the touch screen. Using the touch screen
ST
buttons, set a flow of
250 ml/min.
11. Verify that the pressure gauge on the display slowly starts to climb past 20 cmH
2
O.
12. Open the pop-off valve to relieve pressure.
