2.2a/ CONFIGURING DYNaMIC IP aDDRESSING
To confgure a computer to use dynamic IP addressing:
WINDOWS 7/8
1. In the Control Panel, locate Ne Nettw work and In ork and Intterne ernett, then
select Vie View Ne w Nettw work Sta ork Status and T tus and Task askss.
2. In the Vie View y w your activ our active ne e nettw work orks – Connect or dis s – Connect or disconnect connect
section, click LLoc ocal Ar al Area Connection ea Connection in the Connections
field. The Local Area Connection Status window displays.
3. Click Pr Properties operties. The Local Area Connection Properties
window displays.
4. Select In Intterne ernet Pr t Proottocol V ocol Version 4 ( ersion 4 (T TCP CP/IP /IPv4) v4), then click
Pr Properties operties. The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Properties window displays.
5. Click the Ob Obtain an IP addr tain an IP address aut ess automa omatic tically ally radio button.
6. Click the Ob Obtain DNS s tain DNS serv erver addr er address aut ess automa omatic tically ally radio
button, then click OK OK.
7. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, click OK OK
to save the settings.
8. To confgure Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) to use
dynamic IP addressing, repeat step s 1 to 7. However for
step 4, select In Intterne ernet Pr t Proottocol V ocol Version 6 ( ersion 6 (T TCP CP/IP /IPv6) v6) in
the
Pr Properties operties option (refer to IPv6 section for Fios Router
confguration).
