Trimming
(Figs. 7, 8 and 9)
Safe work
• In order to ensure safe work, a maximum
working angle of 60° is prescribed.
• Never stand below the branch to be sawed.
• Exercise caution when sawing branches un-
der tension or splintering wood.
• Potential risk of injury from falling branches
and flying wood projectiles!
• If the machine is in operation, keep persons
and animals away from the danger area.
• The machine is not protected against elec-
tric shock when coming into contact with
high-voltage lines. Maintain a minimum
clearance of 10 m from current-carrying
lines. Life-threatening danger from electric
shock!
• When working on an incline, always stand
above or to the side of the branch to be
sawed.
• Hold the machine as close as possible to your
body. By doing so, you maximise your bal-
ance.
Sawing techniques
• When removing branches, hold the machine
at an angle ranging from a maximum 60°
to horizontal in order to avoid being struck
by a falling branch.
• Saw off the lower branches on the tree first.
By doing so, it is easier for the cut branches
to fall to the ground.
• At the end of the cut, the weight of the saw
suddenly increases for the user, because the
saw is no longer supported on the branch.
There is the risk of losing control of the saw.
• Only pull the saw out of the cut with the saw
chain running. By doing so, you can pre-
vent it from getting jammed.
• Do not saw with the tip of the guide bar.
• Do not saw into thick the branch formations.
This impedes the tree‘s ability to heal the
wound.
Sawing off smaller branches
(Fig. 8)
Place the stop face of the saw on the branch.
This prevents fitful movements of the saw at the
beginning of the cut. Applying light pressure,
guide the saw through the branch from top to
bottom.
Sawing off larger and longer branches
(Fig. 9)
Make a relief cut when sawing larger branches.
a) First saw through 1/3 of the branch diam-
eter from bot- tom to top using the top side
of the guide bar.
b) Then saw from top to bottom to the first cut
using the bottom side of the guide bar.
c) Saw off longer branches in sections in order
to maintain control over the location of im-
pact.
Inserting/removing the battery
(not included
in the scope of delivery) (Fig. 10)
• Press the battery release buttons (a) to re-
move the rechargeable battery (b) from the
hedge trimmer/pruner.
• The charged battery can be inserted into the
battery mounting on the hedge trimmer/
pruner with a light press. The locking mecha-
nism will “click” when the battery is in place.
Warning:
To prevent accidental opera-
tion, make sure that the battery is removed
and that the chain cover is in position on
the saw chain before carrying out the fol-
lowing procedures. Failure to do this can
result in serious personal injuries.
Switching on and off
(Fig. 11)
Do not use any device where the switch
can not be switched on and off. Dam-
aged switches must be repaired or re-
placed immediately by the customer
service.
Securely support the hedge trimmer /
pruner when switching it on and hold
it with both hands.
Before switching on: remove the blade guard.
• Insert the rechargeable battery.
• Place take a safe standing position to switch
on the hedge trimmer/pruner.
• Hold the hedge trimmer/pruner with both
hands by the handles provided
• Press the locking mechanism button (2) us-
ing your thumb and press the on/off switch
(1) at the same time.
• Release the locking mechanism button (2).
• NOTE: This hedge trimmer/pruner has a
two-hand safety circuit. It can only be put
into operation if both switches are activated.
• To turn the device off, simply let go of the
switches. The hedge trimmer/pruner will
switch off after releasing one of the two
switches.
• Pay attention to the cutting blade running
on after switching off.
Warning: Never attempt to use the
hedge trimmer/pruner if parts are dam-
aged or missing. Always replace or re-
pair parts first. Failure to do so can lead
to severe injury.
