PRO Series PCMS Operations, Safety & Maintenance V2

DANGER
If the cable does not come out of the winch, stop and make sure the cable is
tight. A loose cable disables the mechanism’s break and could cause serious
injuries.
1. Ensure that the lifting mechanism & cable is in good operating condition. Do
not attempt to lift the PCMS if the mechanism is, or appears, defective in any
way.
2. Disengage pin #1 (on base of mast) and turn the pin 90 degrees
so it is
locked and not in contact with the mast.
3. Go to the winch and position yourself
in the safest zone as indicated on the
mast.
Make sure no one is around the PCMS.
4. Give a turn or two on the winch at the same time to take up the slack. Unlock
pin #1 so it is in contact with the mast.
5. Turn the winch handle clockwise
until the PCMS panel is at eye level. Pull
the pin located on the mast below the panel (see Figure 2).

6. Rotate the panel to face the oncoming traffic.
7. If present, line up with the sighting device below the panel.
8.
Turn the winch handle clockwise
until the mast rises to its full length; you
will hear the locking pin click.
3.5 Ballast
WARNING
Never use large loose items for ballast as they can become
dangerous projectiles if the signboard is hit.
In static locations and under specific conditions (turbulence or extreme weather
conditions) you may need to add ballast to stabilize the trailer.
The method used to stabilise the sign should be secure to avoid an additional potential
hazard.
