Cleaning/Maintenance
Regular cleaning is important to maintain an efficient operation for the unit. How often the unit needs to be cleaned depends
on the environment where the unit operates. Dust and dirt on the fan’s protective grille and fan blades will reduce the airflow.
Dust accumulation on the coil’s aluminium fins also lowers the airflow and negatively affects the heat transfer.
The fan cooling flanges also need to be kept clean, to obtain the lowest possible motor operating temperature.
Removing pollution and dirt will increase the coil life length considerably.
The coil should always be blown/flushed clean against the airflow direction. Be careful with the coil fins so that they are not
bent or damaged in any other way.
Strong chemicals, bleach and acid detergents for household use may not be used for cleaning the coil.
These detergents can be hard to remove and may increase the coil corrosion rate.
Detergents for the ElectoFin coil cannot contain the following chemicals:
Nitric acid, chromic acid, formic acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid, perchloroethylene.
Solutions with acetonitrile / methanol / tetrahydrofuran / hexane / dichloromethane.
Sodium hypochlorite, more than 5%
Sodium hydroxide, more than 10%
Recommended Cleaning Spray: Clinex A/C
Read the detergent’s safety data sheet before use and follow the manufacturer’s instruction regarding how to use it.
1. Disconnect the power to the fan motor. Remove the deflector on the heater’s front, figure 16.
2. The heater fan has a quick release cleaning plate, see figure 17.
