note the following order in connecting and closing:
1.
Open the connection from the CDU to the data collector.
2.
Open the data collector command mode.
3.
Send the commands to the data collector.
4.
Open the line from the data collector to the sensor.
5.
Open the sensor command mode.
6.
Send the commands to the sensor.
7.
Close the sensor command mode.
8.
Close the connection from the sensor to the data collector.
9.

10. Close the connection from the CDU to the data collector.
Sending Commands to Devices
Once you have opened the connection to a field device, you can browse the
field device messages and send commands to the field device.
To connect to field devices directly, do the following:
1.
Open the connection to the field device as described in the previous
sections. If the sensor is in auto-send mode, the sensor messages will
appear in the
Terminal
panel.
2.
Start the command mode of the field device by typing the appropriate
command in the
Terminal
panel and pressing ENTER. The command
mode starts, and the appropriate command prompt is displayed on the
screen.
CAUTION
It is important that you close first the connection from the sensor to the
data collector and then the connection from the CDU to the data collector.
NOTE
This manual does not cover the field device messages or the commands
you need to send. For that information, see the appropriate field device
manuals.
