Brief description of the appliance functions
Rapid cooling/blast freezing
The rapid cooling/blast freezing functions are used for rapidly cooling larger quantities of
food after shopping or freezing cooked dishes. The refrigerator compartment temperature
drops to the lowest value for 3 hours and the freezer compartment temperature for
52 hours. The blast freezing function is switched off during holiday mode and energy saving
mode. During the rapid cooling/blast freezing process, the appliance operates at a higher
output, which increases the noise level to a level that is above the normal operating noise.
Each function switches off automatically. Activate rapid cooling/blast freezing for a few
hours beforehand (e.g. before going shopping) to prevent food that is already in the
appliance from warming up.
To freeze the maximum quantity (i.e. ensure the maximum freezing capacity; see the
identification plate), use the middle rack of the freezer compartment and activate the blast
freezing function for at least 24 hours before storing fresh food (pre-freezing). Place food
that is already frozen in the top area and the freezer drawers. Distribute the food for freezing
evenly on the middle rack. During the 24-hour freezing process, do not place any other
food for freezing in the freezer compartment.
The pre-freezing time required may be shorter if you are placing a smaller
quantity of food for freezing in the appliance.
Blast freezing must not be activated if you are placing food that is already frozen
in the appliance, or if you are freezing up to around 1 kg of fresh food per day.
Holiday mode
In holiday mode, only the freezer compartment is operated at - 18 °C. For hygiene reasons,
the refrigerator compartment is operated at around 15 °C. Keep the refrigerator
compartment door closed in this mode. The appliance stops producing ice cubes during
holiday mode and energy saving mode. Do not store any food in the refrigerator
compartment while holiday mode is activated.
