6. Once you see Ready to
Caption the captioning service
is connected. Press the “PLAY”
button on your answering
machine to play the messages
aloud.
Your CapTel 800i will show you
captions of the answering
machine messages as they are
played. During this time, you may
operate your answering machine
the way you normally would use
your answering machine features
(playing, re-playing, deleting, or
saving messages).
When you are done listening to
your messages/reading captions,
hang up the
CapTel 800i handset.
Connecting an External Answering Machine
Your new phone does not include a built-in answering machine, but you can
connect the
CapTel 800i to an external telephone answering machine
(purchased separately).
Follow the instructions that came with your answering machine to connect
the
CapTel 800i phone in the same way you’d hook any other phone to the
answering machine. You will still need to connect the CapTel 800i to your
Internet service and to an electrical power wall outlet, as described in the
CapTel 800i Installation Guide.
