Example with two electronic submerged motor-driven pumps in pulsed
operation
Pulsed operation in opposite direction

I:

first pump in channel 1
Adjustments: power approx. 30 % and 60 %,
pulse cycle approx. 2 seconds

II:

second pump in channel 2
Adjustments: power approx. 40 % and 100 %
in the same direction as channel 1,
pulse cycle approx. 2 seconds i
n synchronisation with channel 1

III:

first pump in channel 1
Adjustments: power approx. 60 % and 30 %,
pulse cycle approx. 2 seconds

IV:

second pump in channel 2
Adjustments: power approx. 40 % and 100 %,
however in opposite direction to channel 1,
pulse cycle approx. 2 seconds
in synchronisation with channel 1

Example with two electronic submerged motor-driven pumps in pulsed
operation
Pulsed operation in the same direction

Day-and-night change-over

If the photo-electric cell has been connected correctly, the pulsed
operation will be interrupted whilst the light is off (night). During
the night, the pumps will always run at the adjustment set on
button 4b or 6b, respectively. For this reason, the LEDs between
these buttons will always be lit.
The day-and-night change-over for pulsed operation will take place
as soon as the photo-electric cell enclosed has been connected
to port (7). For test purposes, first of all hold the photo-electric
cell in the radiation area of the aquarium lamp (distance approx.
30 cm (11.8 in.)) in such a way that the pump connected starts
operating in pulsed operation. Subsequently, remove the release
paper of the pressure-sensitive mass on the rear side of the photo-
electric cell, and attach the cell permanently to the tested position.
Warning ! Never attach the photo-electric cell in the direct vicinity
of a mercury discharge lamp or a high-pressure mercury vapour
lamp. Keep a minimum distance of 30 cm (11.8 in.) (20 cm (7.87
in.) in case of high-voltage fluorescent lamps) as otherwise a light
and heat damage will be unavoidable.

Automatic interval operation or “low and high tide”
(Fig. 4)

If two or more Turbelle

 ®

electronic are used, low and high tide

flow is possible, which is achieved by alternating on / off operation
of the pumps on ports (8) and (10) relative to ports (9) and (11).
The switching interval can be set from approx. 1 minute to 12
hours on switch (12). The interval operation can be combined
with the pulsed operation and its day-and-night change-over. For
interval operation, slide (13) has to be brought into the topmost
position. Pumps can be connected to ports (8) and (9) for channel
1. Ports (10) and (11) have been provided for channel 2. Note:
The interval operation will work only, if at least one pump has
been connected to port (9) or (11) and another pump to port (8)
or (10). For the control of the interval operation, the green LED
below button (5) is lit. By means of switch (12) and rotary knob (5)
the interval time can be set between 1 minutes and 12 hours as
requested. Like in nature, the low and high tide flow is set between
3 and 6 hours.

Fig. 3

Example for electronic submerged motor-driven pumps with
interval and pulsed operation in the same direction

I:

first pump in channel 1
Adjustments: power approx. 45 % and 90 %,
pulse cycle approx. 1.5 seconds

II:

second pump in channel 2
Adjustments: power approx. 40 % and 70 %
in the same direction as channel 1,
pulse cycle approx. 1.5 seconds
in synchronisation with channel 1

Interval operation: The pumps are controlled by alternating on / off
operation of the interval timer, e.g. 5 hours.
