Chapter 2:
About ISDN lines and services
Currently, ISDN services can differ greatly in protocols and
procedures across countries. Your Trust Communicator ISDN
128 Internal has been designed to support most ISDN
switches and protocols. Contact your local phone company to
obtain the Basic Rate Interface best suited to meet your
individual needs. Before installing the software, you should be
aware of the services and protocols provided. This is
essential for setting the right parameters for each ISDN
application.
The D channel protocol for your Basic Rate Interface is
determined by your local phone company. When installing
your software you will be requested to enter the type of D
channel protocol your BRI is configured to.
The Trust Communicator ISDN 128 Internal supports the
most common D channel protocols and ISDN switch types:
European protocols
International protocols
US ISDN switch types
ETSI (EURO-ISDN)
INS64 (Japan)
AT&T Custom
1TR6 (Germany)
NI-1
VN-3 (France)
Northern Telecom
DMS-100 (Custom)
CT-1 (Belgium)
MSN (Multiple Subscriber Numbers)
The DSS1 protocol identifies terminal equipment by MSN.
MSNs provide a set of several call numbers that can be
assigned to different ISDN services. This allows you to use
several ISDN applications or devices on a single ISDN line.
