Restoring the stick reader after a software update has been interrupted
If the stick reader is disconnected during a software update, it will become unusable and will fail to turn
on.
To restore the stick reader:

Connect the stick reader to the PC's USB port using the SRS/XRS-Serial cable and USB-Serial
adaptor.

If required, use the Device Manager to check which COM port the stick reader is connected to:
Windows 7:
Click on
Start/Control Panel
to access the Device Manager.
Click on
System and Security
then on
Device Manager
.
Click on
Ports (COM & LPT)
and expand the list by clicking
+
.
The port the stick reader is connected to will be named
Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port
(COMxx)
[where xx is the COM port number].
Windows XP:
Click on
Start/Settings/Control Panel
to access the Device Manager.
Double-click on the
System
icon, click on the
Hardware
tab then the
Device Manager
button.
Scroll to
Ports (COM & LPT)
and expand the list by clicking
+
.
The port the stick reader is connected to will be named
Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port
(COMxx)
[where xx is the COM port number].

Launch EziLink, click
Tools/EziLink Options
and click on the
Connections
tab.
Click
Choose COM Port
and select the COM port number you found in step 2 from the drop-down
list.
Click
OK
.

Click
Tools/Recover SRS/XRS
. Follow the onscreen instructions.
If the
Tools/Recover SRS/XRS
option does not appear in step 4, follow these instructions after
completing steps 1-3:

Close EziLink.

Modify EziLink‟s .ini file so that the
Recover SRS/XRS option
is available:
