Lever out the old battery using a screwdriver. Insert a new battery (Lithium battery CR2032).
Ensure that the + side of the battery is up.

Slide the main module back into the tube and position it so that the relevant holes at the open end
line up (see

Refit the tube gasket, FRP tube assembly and main module.

Close the case. See

Turn on the stick reader and set the date and time. See

Replacing the Display FFC (flat flexible circuit) cable
The contacts on the FFC must be facing up when the FFC is being inserted into the display module
and facing down when it is being inserted into the main module.

Remove the display module and disconnect the end of the FFC connected to the display module.

Disconnect the other end of the FFC connected to the main module. See
on page 23.

Discard the old FFC and replace it with a new one.

Connect one end of the new FFC to the main module with the contacts facing down. See
flat flexible circuit (FFC) cables and connectors
on page 23.

Connect the other end of the FFC to the display module with the contacts facing up.

Refit the display module. See page 30.
Replacing the serial connector and power loom
When replacing the serial connector, a thread locking product is required (e.g. Loctite 243).

Unscrew the nut securing the serial connector using an 11 mm socket.

Remove the nut.

Disconnect the power loom from the main module.

Push the serial connector through the hole in the case and then remove the serial connector/loom
assembly.

Examine the gaskets and replace if they are no longer sitting flat and are pulling away from the
hole in the case.

Insert the new serial connector into the hole in the case.

Apply thread locking product to the thread (e.g. Locktite 243) using a cotton bud, pencil or similar.
