The bottom stepping motor along with its pulling belt is mounted on the air cylinder
actuated by the toggle switch. That opens the gap between the belts for easy loading/unloading of
a new wire. Belts pressure on the wire is controlled by the air pressure regulator on the back of
the system (Fig.4.7). Standard pressure is set around 30 psi; however, it can vary depending on
the wire gauge and mechanical properties of the insulation. Belts can be easily removed from the
pulleys and replaced by loosening belt tension rollers.

PLC controls the movements of pulling belts by supplying pulses of appropriate
frequency to the stepping motor drivers. It pulls the wire for a specified length then stops the
wire and activates laser-scanner system for printing a message. This step is repeated over and
