Blacker than Black
Off: For normal use.
On: Select when you adjust the black level of your
TV using a commercially available test disc that
contains adjustment signals.
Black Level
Select the brightness of playback pictures you view
on a TV which is connected to the AV OUT jack or the
S VIDEO jack of this player.
Enhanced: Expanded black level.
Normal:
Standard black level.
Progressive 4:3 Output
Make this selection when you connect the player
using the COMPONENT VIDEO connector to a TV
equipped with the component video inputs which
does not have aspect ratio control.
Off: When you play pictures of DVD video discs or
VIDEO CDs recorded in the 4:3 picture size, the
COMPONENT VIDEO connector does not
output them to the connected TV. To view them,
connect the TV to the S VIDEO jack or the AV
OUT jack of the player.
On: The COMPONENT VIDEO connector always
outputs playback pictures to the connected TV.
When you play pictures of DVD video discs or
VIDEO CDs recorded in the 4:3 picture size,
they will be horizontally stretched. To view them
in the original 4:3 size, select “Off” and connect
the TV to the S VIDEO jack or the AV OUT jack
of the player.

Component Video
Select the output signal format corresponding to the
scanning system (interlace or progressive) of the
connected TV equipped with the component video
inputs, or the color system of the monitor.
Y CB CR: Select when connected to a TV (interlace
system) equipped with the component
video inputs using the COMPONENT
VIDEO connector.
Y PB PR: Select when connected to a TV
(progressive system) equipped with the
component video inputs using the
COMPONENT VIDEO connector.
