❖
Enable write cache—During mirroring, data is
copied from the computer’s hard disk to the
secondary internal hard disk.
❖
If write caching is disabled, data is copied from the
computer’s hard disk to the secondary internal hard
disk one piece at a time.
❖
If write caching is enabled, data is copied from the
computer’s hard disk to a temporary storage area
(write cache). Then, the data is sorted and written to
the secondary internal hard disk.
❖
The hard disk drive’s performance improves when
write cache is enabled.
❖
MBR Protection—Protects the master boot record
on your computer’s hard disk by prohibiting data
from being written onto the master boot record data
area.
❖
The master boot record is a special data area on the
computer’s hard disk which is read whenever the
operating system is started.
It is recommended that you enable MBR Protection. If the
master boot record of the primary internal hard disk is lost or
damaged, the operating system is unable to start. This would
result in data loss and your hard drive would need to be
rebuilt.
MBR Protection can only be enabled if the RAID-1 array is
designated as the boot drive.
