3.22 Head 

Cleaning 

3.22.1 Function Description 

This function cleans the heads in the FDD by executing a series of head load/seek and read 
operations. A cleaning kit is necessary to perform this program. 

3.22.2 Operations 

1.

 

Selecting test 

4

 from the DIAGNOSTIC MENU and pressing 

Enter 

displays the 

following messages: 

DIAGNOSTICS - FLOPPY DISK HEAD CLEANING : VX.XX 
Mount cleaning disk(s) on drive(s). 
Press any key when ready.

 

2.

 

Remove the Diagnostics Disk from the FDD, then insert the cleaning disk and press 

Enter

. 

3.

 

When the 

“

cleaning start”

 

message appears, the FDD head cleaning has begun. 

4.

 

The display automatically returns to the DIAGNOSTIC MENU when the program is 
completed.
